Registration now Open for the Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Programme
Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Programme
Applicants must be TY students, full members of Celbridge GAA club and between 15 and 18 years of age.
The programme contains three modules which will be run from November 2023 until May 2024 approximately.
Modules 1 and 2 consist of workshops which will take place over 30 hours.
Module 3 is a community action project (20 hours).
During the programme, the participants will develop essential leadership skills in a safe and supportive environment. Module 1 focuses on the individual and leadership skills, building self-awareness, community skills, values, and communication skills. Module 2 focuses on their ability to lead as part of a team, enabling them to cultivate their skills further. Module 3 focuses on individual leadership aspirations and offers the opportunity to lead their own project within the community from conception to completion. The programme can count towards the Gaisce awards. This unique programme evokes and honours the values Dermot Earley epitomised and tries to foster them in a new generation of young Irish leaders.
Costs
Modules 1 and 2 cost €40 (to cover materials) and there is no cost for Module 3 which is a self-directed module. Should any participant complete all three modules, and then want to proceed with acquiring the accreditation of the programme (Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action) from the University of Galway, there is a €300 fee payable to the University of Galway. This year's Celbridge GAA club graduates will be heading to University of Galway at the end of November for their graduation ceremony!
