Celbridge U-15 secure Cup home Semifinal against Kilcock

Celbridge 0-15

Newtown Gales 2-7

Match Report by Tommy Stack

It took two late frees from the boot of Celbridge corner forward Tomás Stack to shake off the resilient challenge of a determined Newtown Gales team that fought to the end.
Celbridge were first off the mark with a point from James Dolan who would soon follow with a second. Half of this Celbridge team had lplayed in a hurling final (that went to extra time)but that was not going to deny this team reaching a football semifinal from our goalie Senan Cuff to our extended panel.

It was a day for getting stuck in and in fairness to Celbridge lead by team captain Kieran Rubotham and flanked by Darragh Thomas and Sava they were not letting a lot past .
Our halfbacks were well up for the battle Connor Berry,Peter McAteer and Ciarán Kirwan who was involved in every attack and more.

Celbridge cut loose with 5 unanswered points off the boot of Sam Brown ,Riaghan Dunne along with two frees and one from open play from Tomás Stack but in fairness to Newtown they chipped in with 4 points of their own which saw the half time score read;
Celbridge 0-8 Newtown 0-4.

Our mid fielders worked tirelessly Tadhg Molly and Nathan O’Leary Moore who had to be on top of their game. Celbridge would concede a goal and 3 points before we could stem the flow.
Our half forwards lead by the wizard himself Seán Holmes that created and scored some great points .The introduction of Danial Touhy for Nathan to inject some speed in to the side .Riaghan Dunne took a great score off his left and the hard working James Dolan that ran himself to a stop was replaced by Jacob McLoughlin,Cathal Light was deployed to full back to mind the house while Kieran Rubotham had to fill the centre half back position for the Black Card showed to Peter McAteer.
Newtown struck again with a second goal now the metal of these young Celbridge lads was tested. Newtown lead by a point when up pops Darragh Tuite with a sweet strike off his weaker left boot levels it with 10 minutes on the clock .
Tadhg Molloy mops up every kick out for the next 5 minutes wave after wave Celbridge attack but no joy until an inspirational point from Ciarán Kirwan stemmed the tide.The influential Ciarán kirwan was then fouled with Tomás Stack taking full advantage.He was soon gifted another which saw us lead by two .

Big shout out to the full panel of players ,Eoghan Lynch,Eoin Brennan and Noah Harmon who are constantly pushing and jostling for places and keeping the Team on their toes.

Thanks to the parents for your continued support and to all the mentors that are so unselfish with their time.
