Senior Camogie Clane 0-4 Celbridge 1-9

★ Senior Camogie Clane 0-4 Celbridge 1-9 ★ [widgetkit id=460] On Monday night 18-april ( typo in the gallery ) it was the Seniors turn to do battle in Div 1, against a Clane side that have being ever improving since their return to the top level of Kildare Camogie. But this Celbridge team were in no mood for a close contest, and they stamped their authority on the game right from the start. Celbridge had stars all over the field, but a special mention must be given to our three youngest recruits, Pia Mitchell, Ciara Naughton and Sinead Lee, who were called up late when some regulars had to cry off due to work, studies and illness. All three stood up to the job, were a big part of this victory. The Seniors next face Naas at home in Celbridge on Monday night April 25th.

★Weekend Double over Clane ★

★ Celbridge Camogie Notes★ ★Weekend Double over Clane ★ Both the Celbridge Senior and Junior Camogie teams made the short trip to Clane on 17th & 18th of April, as they played their neighbours in the Kildare Camogie Leagues. Finding themselves 9 points down at a late stage, Celbridge legends Fiona Lanigan and Lorraine McIntyre led the fightback with vital goals, and the victory was completed when young Shamira Bagnall Hare fired home a late goal, to send the Blues to the top of the table.Next up for the Juniors is a home game against St Laurence's on Sun April 24th ★ Senior Camogie Clane 0-4 Celbridge 1-9 ★ On Monday night 18-april it was the Seniors turn to do battle in Div 1, against a Clane side that have being ever improving since their return to the top level of Kildare Camogie. Kildare Camogie League Div 1, Rd 2

Celbridge Senior Camogie Mon, April 4th @ 7pm in Maynooth Kildare Camogie League Div 1, Rd 2 Maynooth 2 6 Celbridge 4 12 After a bye in the first rd, this was Celbridge's first competitive game of the 2016 League. Maynooth had just come out of a narrow three point defeat away to St Laurence's in Rd 1 the previous week, so a tough encounter was on the cards. From the start the sides were even, and it was just 3 minutes before a Louise Qualter free put Maynooth in front. Emer Reilly (2) and Mary Murtagh soon replied for Celbridge with long range points, before the accurate Qualter added three more points from placed balls. The game really opened up after 20 minutes when Ciana Hennigan scored a fine goal for Maynooth to put the home side 4 points up. But Celbridge immediately began to eat into the lead with 3 points from Susie O’Carroll and then a Gillian Keegan point levelled the score, and just on halftime Celbridge corner forward Aoife O’Brien pulled on the sliotar from 13 meters and found the corner of the net to give Celbridge a 3 point lead at the break. Celbridge continued their scoring rate right from the restart with points from Mary Murtagh (2) , Emer Reilly and Susie O’Carroll to ease Celbridge into a 7 point lead, and two quick goals from Sinead Halstead and O’Carroll put the result beyond doubt. Maynooths only reply was a point from play, before a Gillian Keegan point was followed by the score of the game. A great move out of the Celbridge defence found Reilly in midfield, and her long diagonal ball was caught brilliantly by Aoife O’Brien in the corner, O’Brien then rounded her marker before delivering a pass to the on running Gillian Keegan, who smashed the sliotar into the Maynooth net. Maynooth kept coming forward looking for scores, but they were confined by a very well organised Celbridge defence, in which center back , Niamh Egan starred all night, ably assisted by Claire O’Sullivan and Niamh Concannon, while minor player Pia Mitchell also played a stormer at right cornerback. A scramble in the Celbridge goal mouth led to a last minute goal for Maynooth, to leave the final score Maynooth 2 6 Celbridge 4 12. Celbridge manager, Tim O’Mahony said he was delighted with the workrate of the girls and their intelligent use of the ball all night.   Celbridge: Kate O’Brien, Pia Mitchell, Niamh Concannon, Aoife Wright, Hannah McDonnell, Niamh Egan, Claire O’Sullivan, Mary Murtagh, Chanice Corcoran, Sinead Lee, Émer Reilly, Gillian Keegan, Sinead Halstead Susie O’Carroll, Aoife O’Brien.  Subs used: Anna Gallagher, Kate Kenna, Eilish O’Brien  Subs: Ciara Naughton, Anna Heple, Roisin Nolan, Aoife O’Brien, Sophie O’Donoghue, Aisling O’Sullivan, Claire Fitzmaurice, Samira Bagnell Hare, Hasana Bagnell Hare, Katelyn McCormack, Angela Lyons, Emma Barry, Sinead O’Carroll, Sinead Cummins.  Referee , Donal Ryan (Dublin) Joe Reilly - Celbridge Camogie PRO -

Family Night for Senior Camogie Team

It was a proud occasion for Celbridge club stalwarts Eddie & Phil O’Brien in Maynooth on Monday night, when their three daughters all featured on the Celbridge Senior Camogie team. Kate started in goals for the blues, while Aoife had a starring role in the forwards, and when young Eilis came on in the second half, it was a real family affair. Also adding to the family theme on the night, we saw the welcome return of the Murtagh sisters Mary and Kate (Kenna), after a long break. Kate took time off to get married and start her family, while Mary spent several years in Australia on a career break. Judging by their form on Monday night, you’d never think they were away. Match report in the way...
